Bodie Miners’ Union Meeting Hall

Built in 1878, the Miners’ Union Hall was central to Bodie’s “Social and Spiritual life.”

The Union of Miners’ was organized December 22, 1877 and jointed the Western Federation of Miners as Local 61 in 1903.

In 1962, California State Parks acquired “purchased Bodie to perserve the historic building and artifacts left behind.”

The Bodie Miners’ Union Hall- building is today functions as a Museum and Bookstore.

It is still serving as the “social center of Bodie,” with visitors entering and finding Bodie History in display cases.

One of two mortuaries remaining in Bodie. (the other is near the cemetery.) This building is believed to have moved to this location, probably after 1888, when Fire destroyed the Bodie Hotel at the Corner.
