Boone Store & Warehouse -Gas Pumps - on one the other side of the Green Street.

WHEATON & LUHRS

George H. Wheaton and Nicholas Luhls built their “store” in the 1880’s. The sign on the facade displayed their names- it was later covered up with a new sign, BODIE STORE after he died.

The overlapping signs, revealed after the buildings white paint faded, appeared to read WHEATON & HOLLIS. The mystery- there has never been anyone named “Hollis” associated with it.
