The original BRICK VAULT is all that remains of the BODIE BANK after the 1932 Fire.
The BODIE BANK was founded by E. L. Benedict in 1890 and later was bought by J. S. Cain.
The Bank was never robbed……Only a night-time Burglary, which Dynamited was used.

BURGLARS DYNAMITE BANK VAULT IN BODIE -Robbers Obtain $6,000 in Cash, Considerable Bullion & Valuable Jewelry
BODIE (Mono County), September 2, Four unidentified men early this morning dynamited the vault of the J. S. Cain Bank at Bodie, secured $6,000 cash, a large quantity of Bullion and valuable Jewelry, and made their escape.
The men left Bodie in an automobile, a posse is in pursuit. They are believed to be headed to Reno.
The Cain Company Store, also was robbed, several firearms being taken.
